Dounreay

Dounreay is the site of UK’s research and development programmes into fast breeder reactor technology. The site includes three research reactors and facilities required for fuel production and reprocessing and other support services.
The site became operational in 1955 and the last reactor ceased operation in 1994. All support facilities have also been shutdown.
