Call for innovative tenders in nuclear research
10 May 2010

NDA is encouraged by proposals to invest up to £2 million in nuclear feasibility studies.
The proposal comes from the Technology Strategy Board, an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body established by Government in 2007, which advises Government on how to remove barriers to innovation and accelerate the exploitation of new technologies. Its role is to stimulate technology-enabled innovation in areas which offer the greatest scope for boosting UK growth and productivity.
In June 2010, TSB will issue a call for innovative tenders in the area of nuclear research and development and its applications.
TSB's investment in feasibility studies aims to stimulate innovation and strengthen the supply chain in the area of nuclear research and development.
Feasibility studies may cover areas including, but not limited to:
- existing technology from other sectors (e.g. automotive, aerospace, power generation, manufacturing and medical)
- application of novel or new technologies into the sector
- innovative knowledge capture and transfer activities that will ensure existing UK experience is not lost
- technologies to deliver cost reduction and efficiencies improvements
The call opened on 14 June and closed 22 July 2010.
