Welsh Secretary of State visits Wylfa site
01 September 2010

The Secretary of State for Wales, Rt. Hon. Cheryl Gillan, paid a visit to Wylfa Site during a tour of North West Wales last week.
During the meeting, the Welsh Secretary expressed support for the Wylfa Site, and the proposals to continue generating electricity, and also acknowledged its importance to the economy on Anglesey.
Mrs Gillan met with Wylfa’s Deputy Site Director Stuart Law, Magnox North Head of Socio-Economic Development John Idris Jones, the NDA’s Public Affairs Manager Robbie Huston, the NDA Site Programme Manager Glenn Vaughan and Alan Smith of Horizon Nuclear Power.
"I am very supportive of Wylfa and always have been. It plays a very important part in the local economy and I was delighted to visit to hear more about plans for the site. I have been excited about the plans and am very supportive of keeping generating at this site," she said.
Site Programme Manager Glenn Vaughan added:
“We were extremely pleased that the site was able to host this visit by the Welsh Secretary, who took time out of her busy schedule to visit. Our discussions were very constructive and we were able to outline the site’s significance to the local community in North Wales, as well as our plans to continue generating.”
