The NDA’s Draft Plutonium Credible Options report published last summer attracted 44 responses from stakeholders. Their comments (where permission had been granted) are published in full.

This document seeks to classify the responses we received on our Draft Plutonium Credible Options August 2008 and provides an NDA response.

As a result of the comments received, the Credible Options report has been redrafted and restructured and contains more information.

Nicole Hough, Plutonium Strategy Manager, said:

“We would like to thank stakeholders for their comments which made us more aware of the strength of feeling around some of the issues. As a result we believe we have an improved paper.”

She said some of the comments raised policy issues and we have discussed these with Government to seek specific policy guidance, for example, on how plutonium fits within a wider energy or climate change policy.

“Some of the issues raised are outside of this specific project but we are taking them up with the relevant parties including our Radioactive Waste Management Directorate team who are responsible for issues surrounding the Geological Disposal Facility,” Nicole said.
