Sellafield

The Parent Body Organisation competitions for the Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) and for Sellafield Limited have progressed well. The competition for the LLWR is in the final stages of negotiations with the preferred bidder and, subject to Government approval, the new contract will be awarded shortly.

By Autumn 2008, the preferred bidder for the new Parent Body Organisation contract for the Sellafield Limited bundle of sites is expected to be announced.

As a result of limited market interest in the proposed competition for the Magnox South sites bundle, the NDA has decided to pause the competition and to review the lessons learned from the whole process so far.

This will include examining the schedule to ensure that the timing and scope of competitions for the remaining sites attracts the highest quality bidders. It will also enable a review of the existing contracts and to develop arrangements under which earned fee reflects real improvements in efficiency rather than solely a proportion of turnover.
