This section provides a brief description of the Windscale site as outlined in the NDA's strategy.
The scope, schedule and cost of work needed to decommission the sites are reviewed annually by the NDA and its contractors during the Lifetime Plan (LTP) review process.

| 2015 | Removal of WAGR and associated buildings - dismantling and demolition of B50 and B52 |
| 2015 | Demolition of redundant buildings - buildings demolished to ground level with foundations remaining |
| 2015 | Pile 1 care and maintenance - removal of fuel and isotopes and replacement of building with low containment structure |
| 2020 | Completion of tenant operations in B13 - Nexia's current lease expires (may be extended) |
| 2025 | Demolition of B13 |
| 2040 | Transfer of ILW to final storage, removal of waste from B64 ILW store, commence dismantling of the piles safe store |
| 2065 | Final site clearance and closure |
