University of Cumbria Funding
27 September 2007
The NDA is pleased to confirm that it will be investing £10 million in the University of Cumbria to support the development of a campus at Lillyhall.
The investment will be focused on courses that will provide the right skills to support the long term needs of the West Cumbrian economy, in particular those skills related to nuclear decommissioning including health physics and business innovation as well as construction and engineering.
It is expected that the investment will compliment the existing Lakes College and newly formed nuclear academy, providing opportunities for people to progress from vocational courses to degree level studies.
Ian Roxburgh NDA Chief Executive said:
“This investment now means that we are supporting the development of the right range of skills to both meet the challenges presented by nuclear decommissioning and the opportunity to diversify the West Cumbrian economy.”
