Update on Magnox and RSRL competition

29 February 2012

The NDA is pleased to be able to provide more details about the forthcoming competition to appoint a new Parent Body Organisation(s) for the Magnox and RSRL sites.

The current plan is that official notification of the start of the competitive process, the Prior Information Notice (PIN), will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) between Wednesday 18 April and Friday 20 April.

Formal Market Engagement (FME) will take place during May and will be based on responses to a questionnaire and/or discussions with the NDA. Interested organisations can request the questionnaire via ndacompetition@nda.gov.uk on Monday 23 April, with responses required by Friday 4 May to enable an NDA review by Friday 11 May.

The NDA will only request face-to-face interviews if considered necessary to assist understanding of questionnaire responses. Please note that the FME, questionnaire responses and/or the discussions do not form part of the formal Magnox/RSRL procurement process and will not be subject to evaluation.

However, to help the NDA to arrange venues and times for any discussions that may be necessary, we would ask interested organisations to choose 3 preferred slots.

We will seek to inform respondents who are invited to discussions of their proposed slot by Friday 30 March, and subsequently confirm if such a discussion is indeed required sometime between 7 -11  May.

Two or three NDA representatives will attend these discussions and interested organisations are therefore requested to be represented by no more than 4 people.

If your organisation would like to participate in FME, please nominate three preferred slots by visiting this link by no later than Friday 16 March.

A detailed timeframe for the competition process is still in the planning stage, however, it is anticipated that an industry event will be held in the summer of 2012, and the contract award likely in 2014.
