NDA publishes Annual Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Report
28 July 2008
This is the third Annual Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Report that the NDA has produced. It describes the health safety, security and environmental performance of the NDA itself, our subsidiary companies and the site licence companies that operate the nuclear sites that the NDA owns.
NDA Annual Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Report 2007/08 (4.5Mb)
The report shows that a high standard of performance has been maintained in all areas of Health, Safety, Security, and the Environment in 2007/08 with continuing improvements in each of the key indicators:
- There were eight events at NDA sites that rated at the lowest level on the International Nuclear Event Scale, down from 10 events in 2006/07.
- The total number of events that were reportable to HSE under RIDDOR was 50 which represents a reduction from the 67 events reported in 2006/07.
- The number of environmental non-compliances that occurred at NDA sites in 2007/08 was nine. This number has been reducing by approximately half in each of the years that the NDA has been monitoring it.
The report also describes our interactions with regulators, our support for the sharing of good practice between sites and the work that has been carried out in 2007/08 to restore the environment on and around our sites.
