NDA appoints new Head of Commercial

21 October 2005

Bob Churchill, currently with AMEC, joins the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) on the 31 October 2005 as Head of Commercial. Bob Churchill will bring to the NDA an impressive range of experience and expertise developed during his career in industry, most recently as a managing director in AMEC’s nuclear business.

As Head of Commercial, Bob will be responsible for a wide range of issues relating to the NDA’s commercial activities, including maximising the use of assets and potential new opportunities.

He will work closely with NDA colleagues responsible for strategy, programme management, safety, engineering, finance and communications, and report to the NDA’s Interim Commercial Director, David Hayes.

Bob Churchill has held managerial, technical and commercial positions in the nuclear, oil and aerospace Industries. His most recent experience has been in developing and implementing AMEC’s business across nuclear decommissioning and clean up in the UK.

He is qualified Engineer and holds a Master of Science degree in Project Management.

In his early career, following a period of technical achievement in the design of systems for supersonic flight, his analytical approach was applied to the nuclear power generation industry. Here, he played a key role in translating research and development activities into design justifications for the UK’s Advanced Gas Cooled Nuclear Power stations.

He then worked in the oil and gas industry managing major capital projects and assets in the UK, the rest of Europe and Asia. He returned to the nuclear industry six years ago with AMEC the international project management and services company.

Commenting on his appointment Bob said: “The NDA represents an exciting opportunity and there are some clear challenges ahead for the organisation. I believe the NDA will achieve great success in this highly complex technical and commercial environment.”
