NDA Hosted Skills Strategy Workshop
11 April 2007
Location: Milton Hill Conference Centre, Oxfordshire
On 11 April 2007, we hosted a one-day Skills Strategy Workshop to encourage our contractors and supply chain to contribute to the development of the Skills Strategy.
The event sought to scope and address the potential skills and resource shortfall in the Radiation Protection Resources field.
Our Programme Director Dounreay, John Farquhar, who chaired the event, said:
"Maintaining the capability for radiation protection support is essential to the successful delivery of our programme. Recent work commissioned by the NDA recognises that whilst there is no imminent crisis in the sector, it may be wise to take action now to head off potential problems in the future."
We are responsible for ensuring that there is an appropriately skilled workforce available to carry out decommissioning and clean up activities and its commercial operations.
"We want to ensure that good practice is shared between relevant stakeholders for the benefit of the UK-wide decommissioning and clean-up mission," John Farquhar said.
The workshop was open to
- users of health physics services;
- suppliers of health physics services; and
- organisations such as academic institutions that support the sector.
