Working with NDA (Tender Opportunities)

We will have a variety of opportunities for organisations to tender for contracts.

There will be tenders available for internal operations, as well as Tier 1 contracts for management of the decommissioning of the UK's civil nuclear responsibilities.

Information for contractors

How does the tendering process work?

1. Request for Expression of Interest
We initially requests submissions of Expressions on Interest (EOIs) in line with the information detailed in the contract notice.

2. Shortlisting and Invitation to Tender
We evaluate submissions and shortlist accordingly.

We issue tender documents to shortlisted parties. Completed documents must be submitted by the stipulated cut off date.

3. Tender evaluation and contract award
We evaluate tenders in accordance with those criteria stated in the contract notice.

How do I express interest?

Where appropriate, our notices to tender are filed with OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union).

TED (Tenders Electronic Daily) database holds the tender information. Contact information for each tender can be found on the specific document on the OJEU website.

  • Choose the appropriate language (e.g. EN)
  • In the search field (top left side of the screen), choose 'extended search'
  • In the 'place' field, type 'Moor Row' Press 'go' to activate the search
  • Current notices will be listed
  • Select each one individually for advice on expressing interest

Who have contracts have been awarded to?

As we award contracts, we will provide details of suppliers and the duration of contracts, see Awarded Contracts.

Definition of Rockfall Scenarios
Closing Date: 10 July 2008
OJEU ref: Not applicable

The NDA’s Radioactive Waste Management Division (RWMD) will have to produce an operational safety case for a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF). This will look at all aspects of the GDF and consider the consequences of any faults in a deep underground facility. The operational safety case will have to be assessed by the regulators before a licence to operate will be granted.

One of the key criteria for ensuring long-term stability and safety in transport to and operations at a deep geological disposal facility is that all waste must be immobilised and contained. A key issue in the design and assessment of such waste packages is to provide safety against impact accidents within the access drift and vaults of a deep underground repository, particularly for the more challenging scenarios of rockfalls.

Stage 1, this ITT, is to identify rockfall scenarios appropriate to the GDF and will concentrate on the underground vaults where the waste packages will be emplaced. Stage 2, (a subsequent ITT), will develop models of these rockfall scenario(s) to determine the appropriate consequences from such events.
