NDA Response to Government Statement on New Build
The Government’s announcement on a new programme of nuclear power stations raises some important questions for the NDA.
This site alone represents two thirds of the nuclear liabilities for which the NDA is responsible. The Parent Body Organisation (PBO) will provide key managers to the Site Licence Company to provide innovation and strategic direction.
The new contract, which will be for an initial period of five years with options to continue, will be awarded in 2008. This contract will provide the Parent Body Organisation, through its ownership of the Site Licence Company shares, with responsibility for over £1 billion a year of funding to operate the existing reprocessing facilities and manage the Sellafield decommissioning programme.
On 11 July 2008, we announced that the current preferred bidder is Nuclear Management Partners Ltd, consisting: Washington International Holdings Ltd., AMEC and AREVA NC
The other three bidders who had submitted final tenders were:
- CH2MHill Nuclear Services Ltd.
- Fluor Limited in partnership with Toshiba
- SBB Nuclear, consisting: Serco, Bechtel and Babcock & Wilcox
