Current Status
The market engagement showed that there is
- strong interest in competing to be the Parent Body for sites not covered by the exisiting Sellafield and LLWR competitions; and
- issues around the sequencing, scope and timing of the remaining competitions, including the Magnox South Ltd PBO competition.
As a result, we announced on the 3 October 2007 that we would reflect on industry feedback and review the remaining elements of the competition schedule with Government.
The pre-qualifiaction questionnaire (PQQ) for the Magnox South Ltd PBO competition is therefore on hold. The pause in the competition process enables us and Government to consider lessons learnt from the first two competitions and review the best way forward to:
- maximise the value for money in acheiving the NDA's mission;
- ensure market feedback is taken into account; and
- secure a competitive market to support the drive for efficiencies and innovation.
The NDA's Draft Business Plan for 2008-11, published for consultation on 7 November 2007, refers to the pause in this competition.
