Draft Strategy and Strategic Environmental Assessment
Type: Statutory
Starting Date: 01/09/2010
Closing Date: 24/11/2010
Short Description

The Energy Act (2004) requires us to review and publish our Strategy at least every five years. This consultation document presents the review of our first Strategy, which contained numerous delivery commitments. This document sets out our long-term objectives and strategic direction which focuses on ensuring the efficient decommissioning and clean-up of the UK civil public sector nuclear legacy sites, while encouraging high standards in health, safety, security and environmental performance.
The Environmental and Sustainability Report was part of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) undertaken to inform the draft Strategy. A non technical summary document highlights the content of the Strategy, describes the assessment process, and identifies the findings and recommendations arising from the assessment.
In this consultation, we wanted to hear from members of the public, nuclear regulators, employees within our Site Licence Companies (SLCs), trade unions, local authorities, Site Stakeholder Groups (SSGs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and any other organisation or public body.
