Our Subsidiaries

Pacific Heron Ship

The NDA has a number of subsidiary companies to manage a range of business interests. Our key operating subsidiaries are International Nuclear Services Limited and Direct Rail Services Limited, which are both wholly owned subsidiaries.

International Nuclear Services Limited

International Nuclear Services (INS) is the customer interface for the NDA's contracts with over 20 utility customers for irradiated fuel recycling and Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel supply. These services are provided from facilities on the Sellafield site. In addition, INS manage and operate a fleet of ships owned by Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited and the NDA which are dedicated to the transport of nuclear materials.

Direct Rail Services

Direct Rail Services (DRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of the NDA. The company was established in 1995 to provide a strategic rail transport services to British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL), its parent company at the time. The company has continued to develop its business into new areas to maximise revenues, while continuing to ensure that spent fuel products are transported safely and securely.
