When will sites be competed?

Magnox/Research Sites Restoration Limited (RSRL)

In line with its previously published Competition Strategy, NDA is currently in the very early stages of planning a competition to cover the future ownership of the Magnox and RSRL Site Licence Companies.

The formal procurement process, including full market engagement, will commence in the first half of 2012, and further announcements will follow once the planning process is complete.

Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL)

On 23rd November 2011 Babcock Dounreay Partnership (BDP), a consortia of Babcock Nuclear Services Ltd, CH2M Hill and URS Holdings (UK) Ltd was announced as the Preferred Participant in the DSRL competition. NDA and BDP signed a transition agreement on 9th December 2011 and entered a period of transition and contract clarification which, if successfully completed, will culminate in both parties signing the Site Licence Company Agreement and Parent Body Agreement on 31st March 2012, followed by a public handover on 2nd April. The BDP target for contract completion is between 2022-2025 and will take the Dounreay site to its Interim End State.   

Sellafield Ltd

On 24th November 2008, the new Management and Operations contract was awarded to Nuclear Management Partners Ltd (NMP), consisting of URS' Washington Division, AMEC and Areva NC. with the transfer of shares in Sellafield Ltd (incorporating Sellafield itself, Calder Hall, Capenhurst and Windscale) from British Nuclear Group to NMP.   

Low Level Waste Repository Ltd

On 1st April 2008, the new Management and Operation contract was awarded to UK Nuclear Waste Management Ltd (UKNWM), a consortium led by URS Corporation - Washington Division and including Studsvik, Areva NC and Serco Assurance the transfer of shares in the LLW Repository Ltd from British Nuclear Group to UK Nuclear Waste Management Ltd. This also includes supporting the NDA in developing a low level waste strategy.
